OpenMedia implements the industry-standard MOS protocol for broadcast device integration, and currently supports version 2.8.3 (and earlier) of the protocol in profiles 0,1,2,3,4,6..
As well as generic MOS protocol support, dedicated MOS device drivers are provided for many broadcast vendors to ensure effective and reliable integration. On the client side many ActiveX controls provided by device manufacturers are supported in OpenMedia.
MOS objects representing audio and video clips, stills and character generator templates available on external studio devices are shown as individual items in the OpenMedia application and can be readily used for planning. Where MOS objects contain additional metadata fields, OpenMedia can be configured to show any of these at script or rundown level. Especially status fields for play out control or thumbnail images provided by the vendor can be displayed. The OpenMedia MOS gateway requires OMIS to be installed with the respective MOS PlugIns.
