OpenMedia is the central point of collection for incoming agency wires, which are immediately available for the users. The system recognizes all standard agency formats (IPTC or NewsML) and it is capable of storing a large quantity of wires over a long period. Wires in multiple language types can be handled simultaneously and can be received via serial ports, FTP or e-mail.

It is possible to run fast and efficient searches for wires including full text and Internet searches. Using pre-defined or personalized search profiles in any configuration avoids the need to manually re-enter search criteria, and search results are available for the user with one mouse click. Flexible views allow different combinations of slugs, text and metadata to be shown in the list, with a reading pane to view the full wire.

All queries can also receive forward search notifications for newly incoming results, while urgent wires are displayed on a scrolling Ticker Bar, irrespective of anything else on the screen.
